I got a new cell phone!

GEDC0447

It’s a MyTouch 4G from T-Mobile and I love it so far. It’s my first smartphone and I’m still getting used to being able to check my email, Facebook and tweet from ANYWHERE… it’s so cool and I love it!

Here are some pictures I’ve taken with my phone using the FX camera app (boo, no Instagram for Android!)

The Magnetic Fields!

The Magnetic Fields

I’ve been a huge fan of the band The Magnetic Fields since I discovered their album, 69 Love Songs, in 2005 when I was in college. I listened to that album (it’s actually three albums, 69 songs split into three volumes) obsessively for at least six months, possibly a year. I’ve wanted to see them perform live since then, but combine my limited college funds with their sporadic tour schedule and it seemed like it wasn’t going to be.

Until I saw the other day that they were scheduled to perform in Los Angeles at the legendary Orpheum Theatre in March. I was so excited, I convinced my brother (my frequent concert buddy) to go along with me and he agreed!

The show is a couple of weeks after my birthday and I can’t think of anything I’d like more than to see one of my favorite bands LIVE. I can’t wait to see them!

Do you like to go to concerts? What was your favorite concert going experience?

Winter is almost over! Well, here anyway

Prunus cerasifera

Our Cherry plum tree, or Prunus cerasifera, is already blooming.

Isn’t that a beautiful sight? We’re enjoying some really wonderful weather here in Southern California. Our Cherry plum trees (also known as Prunus cerasifera according to Wikipedia) are, true to nature, starting to bloom their cute little pink flowers. These trees normally bloom in mid-February, so they’re right on schedule. Later on their gorgeous, deep purple leaves will grow in and stay with us until late autumn until they fall off.

I know I’m so lucky to be living in a place that doesn’t have to worry about a snow storm coming in and wiping these beautiful flowers out. And do you see that blue, blue sky behind the tree? No photoshop necessary — it really is that blue.

Hope winter is treating all of you nicely! If not, don’t worry! Spring is coming just as quickly as it can. :)
