Zig Zag Quilt: WIP (again)
13Well, I sure am taking my sweet time on this Zig Zag quilt, aren’t I? I finally got all of the blocks done over the weekend and laid them out…

This is how it looked before Jetty decided to do spins on it.
So far I’ve sewed the bottom six rows together, only eight more to go!
I’ve been thinking about adding a white border to the quilt, but I’m not sure. I think I’ll wait and see how even the edges of the fabric are and decide then. I also need to decide on a binding… I’ve thought about doing a black binding like the inspiration quilt, but I think I’m leaning more towards a multicolored scrappy binding… of course I’d be thinking of making this more work!
As for the backing, I know I want to use flannel, but I haven’t decided between using some flannel scraps I have or some of a cloud print flannel I have. I guess it will depend if I have enough flannel scraps!
Our anniversary
0As of today, my husband and I have been married three years.

My husband, Mike and me on New Year's Eve. I look kinda weird because I was dressed as Kim Kardashian, but I took off the wig in this picture.
I just went looking for a post on my wedding, and there wasn’t one! I can’t believe I forgot to post about my wedding.
Well, here’s a picture of us on our wedding day.

January 17, 2009 in Newport Beach, CA.
As much fun as it was to marry my best friend in front of our family and friends, we had been together so long at that point it kind of felt like we were already married, lol. We purposely chose to get married as close to our original dating anniversary as possible (Jan 20th), since we had been together almost SIX YEARS by the time we got married. So even though we’ve only been married three years… we’ve been together for nine years now. I can’t believe it!
I can’t believe how young we look there.
Happy anniversary to my best friend, my confidante, my biggest supporter and the love of my life! We are going to dinner tonight to celebrate.
Have a great day!
R.I.P., Granny
2This morning I woke up to the news that my grandmother, Audrey Alleyne (she went by Alleyne) passed away last night. It’s sad news but I wasn’t too surprised. Her health has been declining for many years as she battled with dementia.
I prefer not to remember her how she was at the end. I want to remember her as she was when I was a child: always full of laughter, generous and fun. Dementia took that away from her and made her confused and scared.
My only regret is that I didn’t learn to crochet from her when she still remembered how. I still have one of her crocheted blankets.
Hug your loved ones tight tonight!
