Coffee Quilt: Done!
0I finally finished the coffee quilt I posted about about a month ago. I’m so happy with the way it turned out:
The quilting I did on this one was very much inspired by Rita at Red Pepper Quilts. I quilted double set quilting lines on the squares about 1/4″ from either side of the seam lines like she did on her Broken dishes quilt. Then I did a diamond pattern on the border.
The piecing I did for the back was inspired by Amanda Jean over at Crazy Mom Quilts. I love her pieced backs!
This was also my first time doing a bias binding. I used this bias binding tutorial from Amy over at Diary of a Quilter. It didn’t turn out quite right (not all of the stripes are going the same way) but I’m pretty pleased with it!
And of course, I labeled it! This time the label I used was big enough to include care instructions, so I did that, too. When I started this quilt I wasn’t sure what its final destination was going to be: sell, keep or give away? I decided to give it as a gift for Christmas this year. I have a large family so starting early and making gifts is essential! (And I obscured the recipent’s name just in case any of them see this blog!)
Next up: this American flag quilt (also intended to be a Christmas gift). Time to get cutting!
Happy Birthday, igORG!
0Today is invisiblegirl.org’s seventh birthday
I’ve been maintaining a blog for 9 years now! Most of my earlier entries are private locked (I had no filter!) but some of them are pretty funny to look at!
IG Summer Concert Series: Lykke Li
0On August 3rd my brother and I drove to the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles’ beautiful Griffith Park to see Lykke Li perform. If you ever have a chance to visit this venue, I highly recommend it. So pretty!
When we got there an opening band, Fool’s Gold, was performing. I had a celebrity spotting:
Afterwards another opener, Best Coast performed. They were actually pretty decent.
Then Lykke Li took the stage. She was amazing!!

My brother and I really enjoyed the show. She is a really great performer. Here are some of my favorite pictures from the night:
I also took video of her performing “Sadness is a Blessing,” which is my favorite song off of her new album:
