I saw Eragon before I read the book and I have to say I'm a fan of both. I've read the first two in the series and enjoyed them thoroughly. There is also a set of books I read by Tanith Lee, 3 books about Unicorns (Black, Gold, & Red) I would recommend them as well! I haven’t read ANY of the books that you’ve mentioned, but I have seen a handful of the movies.
