Busy Bee!
The last couple of days I have been unusually busy. Usually on a Monday or Tuesday night, you’re pretty much guaranteed to find me parked in front of the compy or the telly.
Monday night as I was driving home from work, Byron called and let me know that we were going to meet at a certain place and time to go to Worship Generation at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. “Oh yeah,” thought I. “Told Byron I’d go with him.” I wasn’t sure if I really wanted to go, I planned on doing laundry, working on the site, etc., but I thought I should go, and I’m really glad I decided to. Ryan W. and Jason P., guys we knew from SMCHS, ended up going with us. We went to Chick-Fil-A for some grub beforehand, and I was impressed my first time there. The food was pretty yummy. So afterwards we went over to Calvary Chapel, and the worship section got underway for about 45 minutes.
Yeah, it was a pretty long worship, but I really got into it and just totally poured my heart out for the Lord. Afterwards the speaker, Joey Buran, got up and started talking about Romans 15:20-33:
(20)It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else’s foundation.( 21)Rather, as it is written: “Those who were not told about him will see,
and those who have not heard will understand.â€(22)This is why I have often been hindered from coming to you.
Paul’s Plan to Visit Rome
(23)But now that there is no more place for me to work in these regions, and since I have been longing for many years to see you, (24)I plan to do so when I go to Spain. I hope to visit you while passing through and to have you assist me on my journey there, after I have enjoyed your company for a while. (25)Now, however, I am on my way to Jerusalem in the service of the saints there. (26)For Macedonia and Achaia were pleased to make a contribution for the poor among the saints in Jerusalem. (27)They were pleased to do it, and indeed they owe it to them. For if the Gentiles have shared in the Jews’ spiritual blessings, they owe it to the Jews to share with them their material blessings. (28)So after I have completed this task and have made sure that they have received this fruit, I will go to Spain and visit you on the way. (29)I know that when I come to you, I will come in the full measure of the blessing of Christ.(30)I urge you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me. (31)Pray that I may be rescued from the unbelievers in Judea and that my service in Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints there, (32)so that by God’s will I may come to you with joy and together with you be refreshed. (33)The God of peace be with you all. Amen.
And then Joey let us all know that he would be leaving Calvary Chapel at the end of June, and then went into a sermon about aims and change. He really stressed that we have to know what our aim is in life, like Paul. His aim was totally on God, he wanted to preach the word to people who had never heard it before because that’s what God told him he should do. And Paul wasn’t afraid of change. He knows that in “these regions”there is no more work for him to be done, and it’s time to move on. And a lot of times we hold on to the past, but we really have to let go of it. How can God put something new into our hands when we’re still holding on to that thing we don’t need? As Christians, our aim has to be on God, not on the world, but oftentimes we are wavering between the two. So yeah, the sermon was just really awesome and it totally spoke to me. Read Byron’s reaction. I didn’t get to talk to Mike on his break, and I got home late but… it was totally worth it.
Last night Greg was throwing a LAN party (GEEKY!! :D), I knew about it because Mike told me about it. I never really considered myself invited until Maz called me and asked if I was going. Eventually he talked me into going, and I knew that Kristin was going to be there, so I decided to go. I came to the conclusion that — whoa. EPIPHANY. Let me tell you. Remember last week when I was totally like “Urr, woe is me, I have no friends, I’m so lonely” (hey that rhymed!) and I had no friends and nothing to do? Maybe these past couple of days were God’s way of helping me along. I did pray to God to give me something to do, lol, and these past couple of days I’ve been busy — without Mike. Anyway, moving along. So I had fun chilling out, it turned out that Jason came and we chilled, played games and watched a movie. Mike was never able to take a break at work, poor him, so he never called and I worried. :(
So I guess even though my Spring Break hasn’t been the most exciting thing that has ever happened, it’s been pretty fun and busy so far. Hopefully it will stay that way. :D
